Rick Yandle Ground Schools (formally Southeast Aviation Seminars) began conducting private pilot and instrument pilot weekend ground school courses in Birmingham, Alabama in 1984, when the FAA started publishing the actual exam questions. Initially, classes were held only in Birmingham and various other Alabama locations where the FAA Exam could be administered. In 1986, RYGS relocated to the Atlanta area, where weekend courses in other major southeast cities were added.
RYGS's instructor staff consists of Advanced Ground Instructors, Instrument Ground Instructors, and Flight Instructors, all well versed in delivering successful accelerated courses.
The owner and Chief Instructor, Rick Yandle, has over fourty years of flying experience with thousands of hours as a flight and ground instructor.
No video tapes are used in classes. Everything is taught in real time. At least one and in most cases, two instructors are present during the entire class to answer questions. The textbooks and question books were written by Rick Yandle Ground Schools and are specifically designed for accelerated courses.
